Last night’s Golden Globes kicked off this year’s awards ceremonies, and as usual the amazing fashion and makeup choices did not disappoint. From statement eyeshadow to intense glows, here are the five things we learnt from the best makeup looks at the Golden Globes 2019.

Bold Eyeshadow Is Making A Comeback

From Lili Reinhart’s sultry red-tinted smokey eye, to Camilla Belle’s teal-green eyeshadow masterpiece and Lupita Nyong’o’s electric blue lashes and eyeliner combo, bold eyes stole the show at this year’s Golden Globes.

2019 Is All About The Red Lip

Whether you like a soft, cherry-toned matte red like Jameela Jamil and Laura Harrier, or you prefer a bold and glossy hue like Amber Heard and Gemma Chan, it’s time to embrace the red lip.

These are just some of my favourite red shades

Glowing Skin Is Here To Stay

I'm in awe of Janelle Monáe and Gina Rodriguez’s luminous skin. Both these ladies made highlighter the key element of their Golden Globes makeup looks, and it definitely paid off!

While Rodriguez embraced subtle radiance and focused solely on her cheeks for a stunning glowing-from-within effect, Monáe opted for an intense luminescent glow. She went all out, highlighting her chin, cheekbones and forehead for a show-stopping look.

Makeup Is Never Gender Exclusive

If you thought Thandie Newton’s fiery smokey eye was one of the best makeup looks at the Golden Globes, check out Cody Fern’s stunning under eye smudge look. Along his bottom lash line, the dark hues in the outer corner beautifully blend into a soft brown towards the inner corner of his eyes. I’m obsessed!

It's Time To Embrace The Natural Look

In contrast to the many bold lips and stand-out eye looks, several actors chose to flaunt a subtler natural look. While Lucy Boynton and Kristen Bell both paired a light gloss with a flick of mascara and some amazing highlighter, Irina Shayk also sported one of the best makeup looks at the Golden Globes. The Russian model kept her makeup light, pairing neutral eyeshadow and a nude lip, with just a touch of illuminating white in the corner of her eyes.
