While lipgloss may be designed to make your pout shiny, there are actually a number of other ways it can come in handy too.

So if you're ever on the go and in desperate need of a highlighter or urgently need to tame a couple of pesky fly aways, but only have a lipgloss in your bag you can be safe in the knowledge that it can work it's glossy magic on more than just your lips!

Here are six ways the team use lipgloss...

To highlight your features

Using a clear lipgloss, dab a little under your brow bone, on your cupid's bow and on your cheekbones to instantly amp up the glow of your complexion and leave a dewy finish.

As an eye gloss

Apply a clear gloss to your eyelids - either on it's own or on top of a shadow - for a beautiful, on-trend glossy eye look.

To create a custom lip colour

Mix a clear or tinted lipgloss with an eyeshadow to create your own custom lip colour. We mixed Hawaiian Tropic's Lip Gloss, £6, which has a slightly pink tint to it with a bright pink eyeshadow to amp up the colour!

If you've forgotten to apply blusher or simply want to add a dash of colour to your complexion, pink lipgloss doubles as a cheek stain! Simply blend it into the apples of your cheeks for a flush of lived-in colour.

To create glitter lips

Glitter lips are a big trend for festivals at the moment and while they make a big statement, they're pretty easy to achieve. Simply mix a slightly tinted or clear lipgloss with some loose glitter in your chosen colour, then use a lip brush to carefully dab it onto your lips.

As a hair tamer

If your baby hairs are making an appearance or your fly aways are a little out of control, clear lip gloss works a treat to tame hair. Simply add a little to a clean toothbrush and use it to brush them down. What's more, if you don't have any styling products to hand try applying a little clear gloss to the ends of your hair - it'll make them far more manageable!
