Team Tries: Halloween Hair Ideas

You have your costume planned out, you've probably thought out how you'll apply your spooky makeup - so now it's time to focus on your hair. After all, when it comes to Halloween it's all in the details.

To give you a little inspiration, we've tried out 3 Halloween hairstyles that are quick and easy, yet utterly effective. No costume? Well, we think they'd work a treat on their own, too...

Bat and bun Add a spooky twist to your top knot. We wrapped 5 pieces of bendy wire around a pencil to create springs, then attached a tiny black paper bat, £3.15, to the top of each using sellotape to secure them in place. Backcomb your hair to add volume, then twist it up into a high top knot, fastening it with bobby pins. Gently twist the bats one by one into the bun and you're good to go!

Cat ears

No cat ears to hand? No problem. We've found a way to create ears using your hair! Section off a small piece of hair from either side of your head and tie each into a ponytail. Backcomb both ponytails, then fold each one back on itself and twist into a pointy bun. Secure with bobby pins and spritz on some hairspray to hold it all in place!

Day of the dead Split your hair into two even sections. Grab three bits of hair from the bottom of the first section and start plaiting around the hairline, working your way up towards your forehead. Continue over your parting and start feeding in hair from the other half of your head until you reach the other side of your neck. Carry on plaiting until you run out of hair, leaving an inch at the end, and secure with a small clear band. Wrap the braid around your head so it follows a halo shape, then fasten in place with bobby pins, tucking any extra hair into the plait to disguise the join. We used fresh flowers to decorate it, but you could also wear a flower garland.
