Can you believe that we are about to enter a new decade? 2020 is fast approaching and I couldn’t be more excited to see what this new era will bring. Of course, Pinterest have already revealed their predicted beauty trends for 2020. From wearing lip gloss and lip liner to getting creative with planet-inspired makeup, these beauty and fashion looks are sure to be everywhere next year.

Lipgloss And Liner

Lipgloss may have been popularised in the nineties, but the sticky formulas from that era have been banished and replaced by luscious, creamy ones that add some serious shine to your pout.

To embrace the latest lip liner and lip gloss trend, simply line your lips using a lip pencil that is one shade darker than your lipgloss (don’t overline!), then gently smudge it inwards, before adding a coat of lipgloss.

Embrace Statement Hair Clips

Hair clips made a comeback in 2019 and this trend is showing no sign of slowing down! You can get oversized ones covered in jewels, delicate ones embellished with pearls and large velvet bows. The possibilities are endless.

Pinterest had predicted that statement hair accessories will be all the rage in 2020, so get on-board and start shopping for these gorgeous designs.

Get Creative With Planet Makeup

Your makeup is about to look out of this world thanks to this new trend. From purple lip gloss to black lipstick and icy blue eyeshadow, beauty lovers around the globe are being inspired by the deep and mysterious colours of outer space to create new looks.

Of course, some makeup artists have taken the trend to a whole new level and are designing constellations on their eyelids. If you’re feeling adventurous, there is loads of inspiration to be found on Instagram.

Get On Board With The Zero Waste Trend

Eco-friendly beauty is definitely here to stay. From buying refillable products to opting for plastic-free packaging, the beauty world is becoming increasingly aware that it needs to make sustainable choices.

While we can easily make more environmentally sound choices when we’re at home, that becomes increasingly difficult when travelling, particularly with the restricted sizes of toiletries on planes. The solution? Make small changes like using shampoo bars or a bamboo toothbrush.

Braided Hairstyles

When it comes to beauty trends for 2020, braids are at the top of the list.

Whether you embrace the trending box braids, opt for a fishtail braid, a braided headband or braided bun, you’ll look effortlessly elegant and chic.

Integrate Ylang Ylang Oil Into Your Beauty Routine

Made from the flowers of the Cananga tree in India, Ylang Ylang is celebrated for its calming and soothing properties.

Its floral scent is said to promote relaxation. When you breathe it in, it helps to decrease your heart rate and lower your blood pressure. To feel at peace in the new year, why not try a candle infused with this plant?

Step Back Into The Nineties

I don’t know if it was the Friends 25th anniversary that brought the nineties back into fashion, but this street style has definitely made a comeback.

From chunky trainers to baby tees and cropped hoodies, it’s all about Nineties vibes with a modern twist.

Speaking of trends from the Nineties, scrunchies are going to be one of the biggest beauty trends for 2020.

From Selena Gomez and Bella Hadid to Hailey Bieber and Ariana Grande, celebrities have been spotted flaunting this new hair accessory.

Constellation Earrings

It’s not just makeup artists who are being inspired by space, jewellers have embraced the trend too. Constellation earrings are the must-have jewellery item of 2020.

Inspired by the constellations of stars in the night sky, this trend encourages beauty lovers to flaunt lots of tiny star and moons earrings, with each lobe intentionally mismatched. Star-studded hoops and constellation ear cuffs are really popular too.

Gender Neutral Haircuts

Following the popularity of tuxedo dresses, haircuts are the latest things to go gender-neutral.

The pixie cut, the buzz cut and the quiff, gender-neutral haircuts are becoming increasingly popular. Even our favourite celebrities are embracing the look. We’re talking Kristen Stewart, Katy Perry and Jennifer Lawrence to name just a few.

There you have it Glossies, the biggest beauty trends for 2020. I can’t wait!
