The Best Refillable Beauty Products

Refillable beauty products

Thanks to an ever-increasing awareness around sustainability, we’re all constantly striving to up our game when it comes to eco-friendly beauty. If you’re not ready to go plastic-free just yet, there are still ways that you can help to reduce plastic. Here’s everything you need to know about refillable beauty products.

Why Refillable Beauty Products Matter

I won’t bore you all with endless statistics, so I’ll just say this: 40% of landfill waste is created by packaging from the beauty industry.

The beauty industry creates 40% of landfill waste.

That’s a really significant number and we can all help to decrease it. Next time you go to throw away your finished beauty product, see if it can either be recycled or refilled. It will not only help the environment, but it will save you money too (refills tend to be at least a couple of pounds cheaper).

With that in mind, here are some of the best refillable beauty products out there…

The Best Refillable Beauty Products

1. MAC Cosmetics

When it comes to refillable makeup, MAC are at the top of their game.

The iconic brand sells a range of MAC Pro palettes for blush and powders or eyeshadow and concealers that are entirely refillable. Opt for a single, double, 4, 6, 9 or 15 insert palette, then fill it with your shades of choice.

When one of the hues runs out, you won’t need to purchase a whole new palette. You can just buy a single insert. It’s great for the environment (no wasted packaging!) and even better for your purse strings.

2. Rituals

If you treat yourself to a Rituals body cream or hand wash (they have so many amazing different fragrances to choose from), don’t be too quick to throw the tub away! You can buy refills that slot neatly into the original body cream jar, or purchase a packet of hand wash to pour into your existing luxury soap bottle.

3. Beauty Kitchen

Beauty Kitchen (you might remember them from our May Trending Beauty edit) have launched a refill station in Boots Convent Garden that allows you to refill your face, body and hand wash, as well as your shampoo.

If you don’t live in London, you also have the option of taking your empty packaging to your local Holland & Barrett store. They’ll then post them back to Beauty Kitchen who will clean and reuse them. You can find out more here.

These are just some of the refillable beauty products out there. Regenerate, Georgio Armani, Aveda and several other brands are getting involved too. In fact, I don’t doubt that we’ll be seeing more and more refillable products hit the shelves over the next year or so.
