It’s The GLOSSY Circle time again! Next up is YouTuber and beauty lover Charley Bourne!

You may recognise Charley from her YouTube channel @CharleyBourne where she talks about all things makeup and fashion.

An Interview With Charley Bourne

Q: How Did You Get Into YouTube?

A: Even as a kid, I always felt comfortable in front of the camera. I used to film silly cooking videos where I’d melt cheese in the microwave and pretend to be an incredible chef *Charley laughs*. I also grew up making jackass-style videos with my brothers and sisters. It was always really fun!

Because I’d done all of that, sharing my love for all things beauty over video felt like the right way to go. I started my YouTube channel about 18 months ago and haven’t looked back.

Q: Being In Front Of A Camera Must Feel Quite Natural Then?

A: Actually, I felt quite self-conscious when I first started. I used to edit my YouTube videos quite a lot because I didn’t like the way I looked in a particular shot or the angle wasn’t quite right.

I've learnt to laugh at myself and just roll with things.

Now though, I just roll with it. If I drop something, or my hair isn’t quite right, it doesn’t matter. It just makes my content more relatable and I can laugh at myself.

Q: What Beauty Products Do You Talk About On Your Channel?

A: I really like going out and hunting for dupes of high-end products.

You don’t need to spend lots of money on makeup! There are so many inexpensive products out there that work just as well, if not better, than the high-end version.

I don’t like to spend a lot of money on makeup. I once bought a £30 palette but that was a treat.  If you know what to get, you really don’t need to splurge. If you ask me, Bourjois’ Healthy Mix Foundation is just as good as MAC’s!

Q: What About Skincare?

A: I’m willing to spend a little more on skincare. Nothing excessive, but you do need to look after your skin. My go-to? Clinique’s Moisture Surge hydrator! It’s a little pricey at £37, but it lasts a really long time.

This moisturiser makes my skin feel soft and look plump. It’s worth every penny!
