Mastering the no makeup, makeup look can be a real challenge that only celebrities, like Holly Willoughby, seem to have become pros at. Constantly wearing a full face of makeup is not only time consuming to apply but can really affect your skin with breakouts if you do it every day.

Here are our top tips on how to nail the 'I woke up like this' makeup look.

Mastering Morning Skincare

Make sure to wash your face with a soft cleanser, like ESPA Optimal Skin Procleanser, in the morning to clean and buff your skin for a smooth surface to apply makeup. It's best not to use an exfoliator if you're going for the minimal makeup look as this can have harsh results on your skin and cause breakouts.

You can moisturise as you usually would, making sure to only use a pea sized amount of a fast absorbing moisturiser as you don't want to apply makeup onto greasy skin. Clinique's Jumbo Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel is great for keeping your skin soft, hydrated and radiant with a healthy glow.

As a GLOSSY tip we would also suggest mixing a couple of drops of the Dr Botanicals Moroccan Rose Superfood Oil from our January box into your moisturiser to create a dewy glow on application.

Face

Rather than wearing a full coverage foundation, buy yourself a tinted moisturiser for daily use. We love the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser that works to help skin look softer, smoother, and brighter with a natural glow and is available in eight shades!

To cover any dark circles, spots or redness apply small amounts of concealer with a flat concealer brush or you could even use your fingers to blend out concealer under your eyes.

There is a lot of fear behind using blush nowadays as nobody wants bright pink cheeks but you will need to add a splash of colour to your complexion after tinted moisturiser and concealer. Make sure to pick a blush close to your natural colour and only apply to the apples of your cheeks. Bobbi Brown's Pot Rouge is perfect for this as it's available in six shades and can be dabbed and blended into the apples of your cheeks and also doubles as a lip cream!

Eyes

No matter how little makeup we wear, many of us can't leave the house without our brows on. To fill in your brows for a natural look we love using benefit Gimme Brow to give us fuller brows with minimal effort.

You don't need to apply a dramatic look to your lids with a striking cat eye. All you need is a cream eyeshadow in a neutral shade to sweep over your lid, such as Lancôme Ombre Hypnôse Stylo 24H Cream Eye Shadow Stick in the shade Sable Enchante.

Then, finish the look with a mascara. Curl your lashes and use a thin wand mascara to apply two coats to your top lashes. If you have blonde hair it's best to go for a brown mascara to suit your natural shade.

If you have darker use a more common black mascara. bareMinerals Lash Domination Petite Precision Mascara features a small brush to magnify, volumise and thicken those shorter, hard to reach lashes.
