The Best Makeup Palettes

There’s nothing quite like the unbridled joy of opening a brand new makeup palette to make your heart skip a beat. It’s that moment you lift the lid of a compact to discover row upon row of lust-worthy shades. So it’s no surprise that palettes are ALWAYS top of our beauty wish list.

The latest crop may just be the prettiest we’ve ever seen, here are a few of our favourites…

For your cheeks…
Palettes are a dream for adding a dash of colour to your cheeks, namely because they offer up a few different hues for you to either use in unison or choose between. Gone are the days of searching for the perfect lighting for that Insta snap, as the Hourglass Ambient Light Powder Palette, £59, leaves your face adorning the perfect lit-from-within glow. The trio of soft focus powders use photo luminescent technology to impart light in a way that’ll make your complexion beam like never before.

Smashbox + Casey Holmes Spotlight Palette in Pearl, £26, is another go-to palette for adding the perfect glow to your cheekbones. The trio of powder illuminators add a beautiful dusting of pearlescent radiance to your cheeks and it works particular wonders when all three shades are used together. Urban Decay Afterglow Highlighter Palette, £27, will leave you with a iridescent glow, as the palette contains four powders, from pretty highlighters to the prettiest bronze hue, so when used in unison you’re left with cheekbones dreams are made of.

For your eyes…
When it comes to shadow palettes, in our eyes you can never have enough. Zoeva The Basic Moment, £18, contains some of the more shimmery combination of shades we’ve seen in a while – including the most mesmerising golden hue. The beautiful velvet texture of each intense shade also has amazing colour pay-off. After one palette that does it all? Look no further than Charlotte Tilbury Instant Eye Palette, £60. Described by the lady herself as the ‘little black dress of the makeup world’, not only does it contain 12 new dreamy eyeshadows, but all bases are truly covered as the palette itself is split into sections to match the type of look you’re creating, from desk eye right through to disco eye.

If you’re packing super light? The Illamasqua Liquid Metal Eyeshadow Palette, £35, is small but mighty – and it’s also an ideal size to pop in your handbag for a night out. It allows you to switch up your eye look by choosing from a quad of golden and silver metallics that are so pigmented, they’ll leave your eyes looking molten. Alternatively, to up the ante, Makeup Revolution’s Unicorn Vs Mermaid Palette, £4, is made for those who love a pop of bold colour.
