When it comes to foundation, a plethora of formulas launch every year that promise to help you achieve beautiful, flawless skin, but the question is, which actually live up to their claims and our expectations?

In recent years, formulas have come on in leaps and bounds and the most recent launches have been so good, they've actually replaced our usual go-to products. Here are five we recently tested that won a place in our hearts and makeup bags...

'I've already shone the spotlight on Giorgio Armani's new foundation, but it's so good it deserved another mention. As well as being really easy to apply, one of the key reasons it won me over was its ability to literally melt into and almost fuse with your skin. The second-skin finish is something I've never experienced with another foundation and it's safe to say, this little jar now has a permanent spot in my makeup lineup.'

Giorgio Armani Power Fabric Foundation, £40

'I added a couple of drops to my usual moisturiser and simply mixed together with my finger. It blended seamlessly together and went on smoothly across my face for a sheer yet complete coverage. I really like how you can add more or less to your moisturiser to create different spectrums of coverage.'

Clinique Blend It Yourself Pigment Drops, £25

'Bourjois Healthy Mix has been my go-to foundation for years so when I heard they were changing the formula I was apprehensive - sequels are rarely better than originals! But all my fears went when I tried the new and improved formula. It has the same long-lasting, dewy and radiant coverage of the original but the updated formula allows my skin to breath while looking flawless. I apply foundation with my fingers and this glided onto skin for a beautiful finish.'

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation, £9.99

'This foundation left me with such a glowing, perfect finish. The lightweight formula glided onto my skin and was easy to blend, but you can also build up coverage if you want. The matte finish comes equipped with radiance, so you're left with healthy-looking skin that still looks totally natural.

Givenchy Matissime Velvet Radiant Mat Foundation, £35 (launching May)

'If you're after a foundation that provides fairly high coverage, Iman's new formula is for you. It's buildable but one coat provides enough to leave you with a flawless finish, covering blemishes, concealing dark circles and leaving your skin looking healthy and beaming.'

IMAN Luxury Concealing Foundation, £16.50
