It doesn’t ever get to play centre of attention, but now that the Pantone Institute has announced Greenery as the colour of 2017, all things evergreen get to enjoy their moment.
If green was in the movie business it would be nominated in the ‘best supporting actress’ category every year. It provides flattering foundations to a makeup look, thanks to its ability to flatter eye colour, and works well with summer and winter wardrobe palettes to add a flare of effortless style.
Here’s how you can incorporate the colour of the year into your look…
Teal talons are the way forward in 2017. If you’ve never tried green before, Kiko Smart Nail Lacquer in Pine Green, £2.50, is a purse-friendly shade that won’t break the bank.
While green isn’t the first shade many of us turn to when dusting a little shadow across our lids, when applied properly it can be one of the most flattering. Clinique All About Shadow in Lemongrass, £16.50, has the most beautiful iridescent sheen to it, while Diego Dalla Palma Eyeshadow in 111, £12, has slightly richer tones.
The colour corrector
Seeing as red hasn’t been named colour of the year, you’ll want to keep it covered, which you can do with Urban Decay Naked Skin Colour Correcting Fluid, £17.50.
The colour sticks
When it comes to makeup, add some green to the mix and you have something softer, yet a little bit mysterious. Pencils and crayons are a quick, easy and effective way to be on trend. Just smudge into your lash line and go. Illamasqua Sketch Stick in Trip, £4.50, provides the most pigmented colour and the shape means you can easily line your eyes for a pretty pop of colour.
