Beauty Shelfie: Florence Adepoju, Founder of MDMflow

Florence Adepoju, founder of iconic lipstick brand MDMflow, talks us through the beauty products she swears by…

‘Growing up, I wore glitter mascara to school everyday and I was massively inspired by Kelis and Alicia Keys. I wore my hair in braids because of Alicia Keys and I loved how experimental and fun Kelis was when it came to her beauty style.

I’d describe my beauty style now as confident and colourful – bright lips and bold brows are my signature, and more recently I’ve started experimenting with contouring and highlighting. Most of all, I have fun and don’t take myself too seriously.

My makeup bag always has NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint, £30, inside it – mainly due to the fact it gives me a perfectly flawless base to highlight and contour on top of. IMAN After Glow Blusher, £20.50, also never leaves my sight. It’s the most amazing blusher for the winter, it really gives your skin a warm glow. NARS Exhibit A Blush, £23, is another favourite of mine, as it works so well if you want to match your eyeshadow and blush. MDMflow Ninety Four Liquid Matte Lipstick, £25, is becoming my uniform and I literally can’t stop wearing it – then if I’m lining too, NYX Lip Liners, £5.50, work amazingly with my collection. My go-to when it comes to banging eye makeup is without a doubt one of Urban Decay’s Vice palettes, £43, topped off with a few coatings of MDMflow Greater Than Mascara, £21, which I love to layer for a jet black lengthy lash.

When it comes to taking the above off, I turn to Bioderma Micellar Water, £10.50. It gets all my makeup off and leaves my skin feeling fresh. Elizabeth Arden 8hr Cream, £27, never leaves my side – it’s great for everything from chapped lips to sun burn and works a treat as an eye gloss. Milk Make up Deodorant, $14, is a lovely natural deodorant and comes in such sleek packaging.

Scent always plays a big part, and when it comes to fragrance my current daily spritz is Malin & Goetz Bergamot Eau De toilette, £110, then I always have Diptyque Roses Candle, £42, burning at home as it’s so warming and classic.
