The Best Highlighters Under £10

Being able to strobe and highlight can add a diamond-like finish to your skin. While the results may look expensive, you can actually get some great glow-imparting products for under £10. In fact, you may even be left with some change.

Here are a few of our favourites…

The sticks
A cream highlighter can melt into skin for a finish that looks fresh and healthy with a more ‘real skin’ appearance. Topshop Beauty Glow Stick in Play Up, £10, is a fine cream stick that can be patted into the cheekbones, the Cupid’s Bow and under brow-arches, giving a subtle, sheen strobe that’s easily blendable.

There are also some great tools out there for doing makeup that looks like it took ages, but you really managed in under two minutes between stops on the tube. No7 Instant Radiance Highlighter, £9.95, is a chunky crayon you can just draw onto cheekbones, brow bones and down the centre of the nose. All you need to do is pat it in with your ring finger and you’ve good to go.

The palettes
A mixture of textures means you can customise your highlight and Sleek Makeup Cleopatra’s Kiss Highlighting Palette, £9.99, contains two baked powders and two cream options, giving you total control of your strobe. The warm hues also mean that as well as getting a strobed finish, you can also lift your tan, add a natural-looking warmth to your complexion and use it as eyeshadow on ‘no-makeup-makeup’ days.

For a shimmery finish, essence Light Up Your Face Luminizer Palette, £3, offers a trio of shades that’ll add a subtle sheeny glow to your complexion. The light-reflecting pigments accentuate your facial features with a light pearl, intensive shimmer or golden glow finish.

The pen
Some of the best under-eye highlighters have a gorgeous mix of shimmer and concealer. The result is a subtle, perfecting highlight. L’Oreal Paris Lumi Magique Touch of Light Highlighting Pen, £8.49, has just this. The light reflecting particles in the cream allow it to brighten under the eyes, while they also catch the light when dabbed into cheek and brow bones.

The balm
A natural highlight should add luminosity, not shimmer, to skin, but sometimes only sparkle will do. Dr Paw Paw Sparkle Balm, £6.95, is a go-to when you want your highlight to have a little more razzle-dazzle. Plus you get an extra bang for your buck, as this lip gloss doubles as a moisturising balm and a skin highlighter.

The tint
A well-placed highlight can add something really beautiful to your look, but the tone of your highlight can make a real impact too. Rimmel Good to Glow Highlighter, £4.99, comes in three shades: Piccadilly Glow adds a peachy highlight, Notting Hill Glow adds a baby pink glow and Soho is a prettifying sunny bronze that works wonders for lifting wintery skin.
