Renowned for its purse-friendly fashion and accessories, Primark admittedly isn’t the first place we’d turn to when shopping for new beauty products – but the new premium pro range may change things up.
Aimed at those wanting to take their makeup to the next level, it promises high performance makeup at affordable prices – the most expensive product being foundation at a mere £5. So we swapped out our usual makeup in favour of putting Primark’s Pro range to the test. Here’s what happened…
‘Admittedly, I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to makeup bases – mainly because I’m a little OCD where skincare is concerned, so the last thing I want is a foundation or concealer that’s sat there clogging my pores. This concealer palette has quite a thick consistency which feels a little too much when you’re first dabbing it onto your skin, but for a good reason as it works an absolute dream for hiding any imperfections and colour corrects your skin tone for a flawless finish. I’m a big fan of finishing powders and Primark’s version is lightweight and really fine – the perfect consistency.’ – Alice, Beauty Editor
‘This primer works a treat to prep the skin for flawless foundation application. The coverage of the foundation is really good, think along the lines of Estee Lauder Double wear. While it’s a bit too thick for a foundation I would normally wear, it’s great for a night out to see you through to the early hours.’ – Coryn, Brand Campaign Manager
‘This mascara is up there with the big guns – it added volume and length to my lashes within two swipes of the wand and stayed put, without a smudge or flake in sight. The brow pen was super easy to apply and is water resistant, so literally does not budge! – Alice
‘This is perfect for a dramatic 1960s look. The jet black formula of this eyeliner makes it perfect for making a statement. It’s quite a thick liner so careful application is needed – keep those hands steady!’ – Coryn
‘Give me a lipstick any day, but I’m not a huge fan of lipgloss – it’s the whole hair stuck to your lips thing that gets me. The PS Pro Ultra Shine Lipgloss, however, was non sticky and slicked the most vivid colour on to my lips. If you’re one for a glossy finish, you won’t be disapointed’ – Alice
‘The formulation of this lipstick is quite sheer so to create the ultimate nude you’ll need a couple of layers – but overall, it’s such a wearable hue and leaves a lovely glossy finish. The lip liner is an ideal shade for creating fuller lips. It’s a natural nude shade that’s perfect for adding definition, no matter what lipstick shade you’re applying on top.’ – Coryn
