Our Pantone Of The Month: Buttercup

Could there be any other shade, tone or even name that so effortlessly conjures up the joy of the summer months than Pantone’s Buttercup?

The bright, bold shade screams long summer days, hot summer nights, spaghetti straps, tan lines and jugs of Pimms – we’ll be packing our beauty bags and wardrobes with as much of it as we can. What’s more, it pairs very well with both Snorkel Blue and Serenity!

Here are a few of our favourite buttercup yellow discoveries…

Bright eyes
It might not be a colour to naturally gravitate towards, but yellow tones on the eyes can actually be bold and beautiful. Either blend over the middle of the eyelid with softer tones on the edges or on the outer corner if you really want to make some eye contact.
MAC Eyeshadow in Chrome Yellow, £13

Fine line
If yellow shadow is pushing the boundaries a little too much for you, then eyeliner is another alternative. Carefully draw along your upper lash line for an instant pop of colour.
Butter London Eye Pencil in Cheerio, £14

Mellow yellow
Yellow might be a bold shade, but there really isn’t an easier way to embrace the summertime hue than with two coats of this super shiny lacquer. Just don’t be surprised if Bumble Bees want to be your friend…
WAH London Nail Polish in Peel Slowly and See, £8

Dress to impress
Long summer days spent at weddings and hazy evenings dining al fresco call for a buttercup hued dress – bright and playful, while still being pretty and feminine.
We love: Ginger Fizz Cut Out Pencil Dress, £35

Bag it up
We don’t know about you, but in summer we just want to be free and a cross-body bag lets you carry your essentials without feeling weighed down. Most importantly it frees you up to stroll through the park with an ice cream – result!
Cambridge Satchel Company Leather Saddle Bag, £110
