In case you haven’t checked your social media in the past few months, nail art is in. Making up for the lost manicures over lock down, we’re going intricate and more creative with the polish, making nails the new must-have accessory of the summer.

Whether you’ve been honing in on your at-home handywork or will be booking your next appointment with your technician, we have all the must-try trends and nail inspo as seen on social media.

Swirls

Super in season right now, 70s style swirls are the easy and simple, yet impressive look to be practising with your polish. Play around with the thickness and curve of each swirl using different colours to create a truly unique finish. We love this stunning pink pattern that perfectly outlines the nail contour to give a continuing effect.

French tips

French tips are back, but not as you may traditionally know them. Rules are out and colours are in this summer when it comes to this classic manicure look. Get experimental with bright or pastel colours or if you’re feeling up to the challenge, try a pattern on your tips.

Not sure you’ve got steady enough hands for the job? Try this easy French manicure hack for perfect, even polish every time.

Personalised nail art

We can’t get enough of these cute nail art designs! From fruity detailing to full on England flags for the football, we’re loving the personalised nail art trending this summer. It’s all about matching your nails to the occasion and practically anything goes. We may be biased, but these Glossy logo nails have to be our favourite.

Florals

Cute and seasonal, florals are always in style this time of year. Whether you choose to go big and bold or a more intricate and realistic flower design, you really can’t go wrong with this one.

Checkboard

Following the popularity of the Queen’s Gambit, the chessboard has made its way off the screen and onto our nails! This design uses blank space and a nude background rather than contrasting black squares to create a lighter and more summery look. To recreate the look, start with a nude base coat and then map out your lines with a steady hand before filling in the white squares with polish. Apply your top coat for extra shine and check mate!

Abstract

One for the professionals, if you want to turn it up a notch on your nails, ask for something abstract. We’re getting serious Kandinsky vibes from this super impressive geometric design by @nails_and_soul.

Bright and neon colours

In true summer style, we’re seeing a lot of bright and cheerful colours trending this season. From neons to pastels, it’s all about being bright and colourful with the blacks and plums taking a backseat this season.

Cuticle accents

If you’re not a fan of the French tips, try this new trend; cuticle accents. Drawing attention to the other end of the nail using a small decoration such as a heart, star, dot or even a thin line, the options are endless.
