Female Founded Beauty Brands To Support This International Women’s Day!

To us, International Women’s Day is all about supporting the women around us – whether that’s our friends, family, colleagues or those who make up the rest of our industry. Because, we believe, when we support each other, we can all succeed! 

So, we thought, today of all days, would be one of the best to share with you some of our favourite female founded beauty brands. Some have built their businesses from a desire to offer something different and much-needed while others have used their platforms to empower and lift others whilst giving back. But all are our favourite to shop at! 

Here’s are four of our favourite female founded beauty brands, the women behind them and the products they offer that we can’t get enough of…

Jecca Blac 

We love Jecca Blac, and even more so love the reasons behind why the brand was created. Founder and makeup artist Jessica first created the Jecca Blac studio as a safe space for trans women to experiment with makeup. It offered a judgement free setting, where clients could expand their makeup knowledge and gain the confidence they needed to present as their true selves. 

It was these clients who then inspired her to become a makeup brand – one that celebrates all makeup wearers. Jecca Blac’s first product, its Correct & Conceal Palette, was an industry first, designed to help provide long lasting coverage for beard shadow and blemishes. Today, the brand still proudly continues to create innovative products for all who love everything beauty!

Glow Recipe 

There’s a lot to love about this beauty brand! Glow Recipe specialises in Korean beauty, utilising fruit powered ingredients for effortless glowing skin. Founded by dynamic duo Sarah Lee and Christine Chang, the brand has a mission of making skincare both educational and exciting. 

Glow Recipe believes that beauty shines brighter from a generous heart, therefore has a goal to use its platform to make an impact on communities the brand is passionate about. Over the years it has supported all types of organisations, including those who work for diversity and inclusion, environmental preservation and female empowerment and education. During COVID-19, Glow Recipe also donated more than $80,000 worth of skincare products to front-line workers and medical professionals, to show its thanks for working tirelessly during this difficult time.

Our favourite product is by far Glow Recipe’s pink Watermelon Sleeping Mask, a deliciously scented treatment works overnight to produce plump, hydrated results. We loved it so much we actually had it in our GLOSSYBOX Advent Calendar last year! Did you get yours?

Beauty Bakerie 

Named after founder Cashmere Nicole’s love of sweetsBeauty Bakerie was born out of a desire to become more conscious of the products we put both in and on our bodies. During a challenging, but successful fight with breast cancer, Cashmere began her mission to sweeten the lives of others – with the brand being a direct reflection of Cashmere’s perseverance and passion for both high quality, healthy ingredients that enhance natural beauty. 

This brand isn’t just about cruelty-free, all-inclusive cosmetics though. Cashmere has ensured it gives back to people all over the globeThe brand has been recognised for its mission to support women of colour, and is also dedicated to creating opportunities for children, with every single sale made helping to fund orphanages worldwide, through its Sugar Homes programme. But this isn’t all. Dubbed ‘activists in makeup’, the brand has also been vocal about injustices that span a variety of issues, including The Black Lives Matter Movement, The Dream Act, The Muslim Ban, missing children, and human trafficking! 

Beauty Bakerie continues to make waves in the industry with its products too! For example, it received great praise for being the first in the industry to label its shades from darkest to lightest after the viral launch of its 58-shade Cake Mix Foundation in 2018!

Fenty Beauty has quickly become an industry leader since it was founded in 2017, standing apart from others thanks to the extensive range of shades it offers its customers. The Fenty foundation was originally launched with 40 shades (it now has 50!), with the aim of being inclusive for everybody.
