Sheet masks have been a skincare staple in Asia for a long time, but it took the rest of the world a while to catch on and realise exactly how amazing they are. Previously a bit fiddly and tricky to use, they’ve now been fine-tuned and serve to rescue, soothe, hydrate and brighten skin in as little as 15 minutes.
The premise is very simple, a face-shaped cloth is saturated with skin-loving ingredients and placed on the skin. Not only is it hugely convenient, it’s all you really need on those days when your skin is crying out for something more.
Here are a few of our favourites…
A first in sheet masks, this little wonder from Estée Lauder has a foil back so that all the potent anti-ageing formula has nowhere to go but into your skin. Advanced Night Repair sets a high standard for anti-ageing and this mask contains a double dose, while also hitting skin with a hydrating boost.
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Concentrated Recovery PowerFoil Mask, £58 for 4
Sometimes the skin under our eyes needs a little extra TLC, whether it’s down to the excesses of a particularly social time, stress, lack of sleep – any number of things. That’s when a mask packed with ingredients that simultaneously soothe, hydrate, calm and renew can step in and steer things back to normal. Eye masks are used time and time again backstage at fashion week to instantly pep up the skin of overly tired models and what’s more, they offer up the option of creating a bespoke facial. How? You apply them in a patchwork style to parts of your complexion that appear a little more parched. Dry chin? Apply an eye mask strip. Dehydrated forehead? Again, pop an eye mask or two on!
