When it comes to beauty tools, they have totally upped their game of late. Gone are the days of the questionable tools of the nineties that were more of a hindrance than a help, the latest set take your beauty routine to the next level - and beyond.

From giving your foundation a flawless finish to removing every ounce of your makeup, here nine tools that will turn you into your own beauty expert, pronto...

1. The makeup brush cleaner  This clever cleansing palette has a raised surface which helps sweep away any makeup, oil and impurities that are caught between the bristles of your makeup brushes. What's more, it's designed to fit comfortably over your hand to make cleaning your brushes easier than ever! Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Palette, £12.99

2. The mascara guardIf, like us, you often end up with mascara on your eyelid as well as on your lashes, then Tweezerman have just the tool for you. The mascara guard allows you to perfectly apply your mascara, protecting the rest of your makeup in the process. Plus, it can help you pull off Twiggy-esque bottom lashes without getting mascara all over your face. This one's never leaving our makeup bag. Tweezerman No Mess Mascara Guard, £12

3. The facial massager The perfect accompaniment to facial oil, this twin-balled massager will help work your skincare products into your skin, stimulating blood flow and lymphatic drainage to leave your skin energised and gleaming with radiance. The Body Shop Twin Ball Facial Massager, £16

4. The cordless curlerWhether you've curled your locks for a night out and they've already dropped by 11pm or you're off to a festival and want to style your hair without the need for electricity, this will have your back. Small enough to fit in your clutch bag and acceptable for air transport, this cordless gas curling tong from Babyliss means you can style your mane wherever you are! Heating up to 200 degrees, it can create the bounciest curls on the go and even comes equipped with a protective heat shield for quick, easy storage. Babyliss Pro Cordless Ceramic Gas Hair Curling Tong, £16.99

5. The makeup eraserA fleecy cloth that promises to take off all of your makeup using only water? Yep, no cleansers or facial washes. At first we were totally skeptical, but it does remove every single speck of makeup, which in itself is pretty incredible. We wouldn't, however, suggest using it on a daily basis. We're big believers of cleansers here at GLOSSYBOX, but if you're off to a festival then this little beauty could be just the thing to pack. The Makeup Eraser, £15.29

6. The foundation applicatorCreated in collaboration with celebrity makeup artists, Color Me's foundation applicator uses something called 'sonic pulse technology' to mimic the tapping technique of pros to apply your foundation - whether it's a powder or liquid formula. It leaves you complexion looking flawless and air-brushed, as well as ensuring you're left with longer-wearing coverage. Color Me Automatic Foundation Applicatior, £58

7. The hair removerTo remove leg, arm and even facial hair once and for all, an IPL machine is worthy investment. Sure, it comes equipped with a pretty hefty price tag but if said price tag means you never have to buy a razor or go for a wax again, then it totally pays for itself in the long run. It's a safe, fast and painless solution for unwanted hair and works by preventing regrowth. In fact, it promises a 75% reduction of hair regrowth within a mere 8 weeks of use. We're sold. Philips Lumea Prestige Hair Removal System For Face And Body, £350

8. The pout perfector Chapped lips will be a thing of the past if this little device has anything to do with it. It rotates more than 450 times a minute to softly buff away any dead cells, in turn polishing, plumping and perfecting your pout. It's a bit like a toothbrush for your lips, but without the bristles - and it comes equipped with the most incredible smelling lip scrub. Bliss Fabulips 'Pout'-O-Matic, £34

9. The lash curlerWhen it comes to eyelash curlers, Shu Uemura's are the best in the business - in fact, they've even won awards for their lash curling abilities. A makeup artist's staple, the deep curved curlers grab each and every lash, leaving them lifted and super curly. Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler, £20
