Beauty School: How To Multi-Mask

Why take just one mask into the bathroom? After all, not all skin is created equal, which is why a little tailor made masking can do a lot of good.

Curating your own mask ‘wardrobe’ is actually a smart, and extremely efficient, way to treat your skin – even if it does have the potential to have your bathroom cabinets bulging.

Multi-masking is simple: rather than apply the same mask to your entire face, assess your skin and ‘spot apply’ so your skin gets a personalised treatment. It’ll usually mean a mix of clays, gels and creams. What’s great about it is that our skin is usually crying out for different things. The T-Zone will usually benefit from the decongesting power of a clay, the forehead might love the quenching feel of a gel and the rest of your face might appreciate the soothing softness of a cream.

Here’s our favourite masks for you to mix-up and multi-mask with…

A trio of choices
L’Oreal Pure Clay Masks, £7.99, have been specifically designed for you to multi-mask with. There’s a choice of Detox, Purify and Glow and you can use them separately or go for a full camo-look by spot-treating with all three.

Plump your skin
Skyn Iceland’s Facelift-in-a-Bag, £15, is tailor-made for the multi-masking trend thanks to stick-on masks that will work well with creams, clays and lotions. Though they stick they are still full of hydrating goodness and ‘feed’ skin a potent mix of skincare and you can wear them all at the same time or choose the ‘zone’ you need to give extra attention to.

Boost radiance
The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask, £15, is a great choice when skin might feel like it needs a little detox. The clay helps draw out impurities that can render skin dull and listless and help revive its natural glow.

Tackle breakouts
If breakouts bother your skin try the Una Brennan Superfacialist Salicylic Acid Anti Blemish Clay Mask, £9.99, on the areas prone to a flare up. The gentle mask will clear congested skin and absorb excess oil without drying skin out.
