The July Edit: Your Questions Answered

We asked you to share any questions you may have about the products you discovered inside your July box – from the best techniques for applying your mascara to how to use your HairOn Brush – to help you get the most out of this month’s beauty edit.

Here are some our favourites, all of which have been answered by the GLOSSYBOX team!

Will the gloss act as sun protection for my lips?
‘Yes! It’s important to keep your lips protected in the sun and the Hawaiian Tropic Lipgloss contains broad spectrum SPF25, which will protect your lips from UVA and UVB rays. Apply it about 30 minutes before you’re going in the sun, however if you’re going to be in strong rays we recommend going for something a little higher.’ – Ri-Jean, Head of Brands

I was so happy to see a new makeup brush in this month’s box! Should I be using this to apply foundation or use it as a bronzing brush?
‘You can use it for either! It’s great for applying foundation, but the shape means it’s also perfect for applying bronzer too. We’ve put together a little tutorial to show you how to use it with different makeup here.’ – Emma, Makeup Ambassador

Can I use the detangling brush on wet hair?
‘It’s designed to be used on both wet and dry hair and will detangle your locks without any snagging or tugging!’ – Alice, Beauty Editor

I am a very pale freckled redhead, I really want to use the self tan as it sounds amazing for my skin but i am terrified of looking really dark and silly. Is it really suitable for pale skin like mine?
‘The self tan can be used on any skin tone, so don’t be scared of using it on pale skin! A few of the paler girls in the office gave it a try – the best tip is to take it slow and steady. Apply a little at a time, this way you’ll slowly see the results and can stop once you’re happy with the colour!’ – Ri-Jean, Head of Brands

How should I apply my mascara to avoid clumpy eyelashes?
‘For full lashes that are totally clump free, application is key! Place the wand at the root of your top lashes and gently wiggle the wand as you begin gently dragging the wand up towards the tips of your lashes. You’ll be far less likely to be left with clumps and your mascara will be perfectly and ever so evenly distributed!’ – Emma, Makeup Ambassador

Im interested in how the deodorant minimises hair growth?
‘It contains a hair growth minimizer called Keliosoft, a natural plant molecule that reduces the protein that stimulates hair growth.’ – Ri-Jean, Head of Brands

Do you think I can use the Blank Canvas brush for powder?
‘The Blank Canvas Flat Brush can be used for all sorts (you can see four different ways we use it here), but the shape means it’s particularly good for powder foundation and finishing powder. Simply dab it in your makeup and dust the brush across your T-Zone or any areas of your face that need a little mattifying!’ Alice, Beauty Editor
