The Summer Holiday Body Plan
Like me, you have probably switched your skinny jeans to shorts as we enjoy what finally feels like a real summer. I love it when the sun shines in London, but I will soon be switching my skinny Mochas for not so skinny Mojitos on the gorgeous southern coast of Turkey. If, like me you are jetting away or perhaps taking a road trip across the UK, I thought I would share my top tips for getting the ultimate holiday body and feeling like a total summer babe.
Since I splashed out on my holiday it meant cutting back on my gym membership. Instead, I have been integrating 100 squats and lunges into my daily routine. Free and very effective! I also decided to try a boot camp fitness session at The Fit Body Formula; this is half an hour of intense cardio and weight training. You won’t be able to walk the next day but as they say, no pain no gain, right? If you’re strapped for cash, a great alternative would be getting your friends together for a group fitness session in the park. If you need motivation to get started, a moodboard with images of how you want to look, feel and what you wish you were doing can really help to get you going!
I’m usually a ‘diet who?’ kind of girl but to complement my work out sessions, I decided to swap my pasta lunches with tasty oriental salads from Kimchee to Go. My favourite is the Marinated Tofu Salad, which is really yummy. If you don’t live in London or are on a budget, pick up a sushi making kit and have a go at making a sushi salad yourself. I suggest adding sesame seeds and teriyaki sauce for that restaurant quality finish.
I love a good pampering session before I go away to start getting your mind to switch off. I visited Thailand in March earlier this year and fell in love with the Thai Spas I visited. So I decided to visit the Thai Square Spa in Covent Garden for a ‘Thai Square Signature Wrap,’ to help detoxify and firm my skin. The treatment starts with a foot bath and a hot Thai tea before being led to an indulgently decorated treatment room which definitely got me feeling in the holiday mood. The therapist applied Clay to the entire body and then wrapped me up in a warm cocoon for half an hour whilst I enjoyed a relaxing head and scalp massage. Post treatment my skin felt incredibly soft and looked that little bit more toned.
To get healthy dewy skin, I turned to Balance Me, a high-performance and natural skincare line. I have been cleansing my skin with the ‘Cleanse & Smooth Face Balm’, using the’ Radiance Face Mask’ twice a week and the ‘Radiance Face Oil’ morning and night to moisture and replenish the skin. These will be coming along with me on the trip.
My suitcase is finally packed, I’m feeling good and I’m ready to go. See you in a week Glossy Girls.
