Beauty Insider – Claire Vero: Founder of Aurelia Probiotic Skincare
As skin care junkies and suckers for technology x botanical ingredients hybrids, we knew we had to investigate further when we heard about the recently launched probiotic skincare range Aurelia. Especially, when we found out that they sold out within a day of hitting the digital shelves of Net-A-Porter’s new beauty pages!
Claire Vero, pharmaceutical and dermatology expert, kindly invited us into her beautiful home to give us a crash course in effective skin care and talk us through the high-performance, scientifically-proven line she has developed to target premature and accelerated skin ageing.
CV: Great skin can broadly be pinned down as three things: plump and hydrated skin, a smooth texture and a bright and clear complexion that radiates glow. My pharmaceutical and dermatology background allowed me to distil the basics of achieving and maintaining healthy, youthful skin, which is reducing inflammation within the skin and balancing its defence system.
GB: How do you achieve this?
CV: Inflammation is caused by daily environmental aggressors, such as air pollution, wind and sun exposure, as well as internal factors such as hormone imbalances, sleep deprivation and stress. The slowdown of processes is part of the natural ageing process so it is important that your skincare products aim to increase your skin’s ability to counter the effects of such aggressors. The first step is a thorough cleansing regimen in the morning and evening, using a cleanser that doesn’t strip the skin of natural oils and removes all daily grime, dead skin cells and make-up. Cleansing in this way will also boost the effectiveness of your subsequent products as they will be absorbing into fresh skin cells not old ones!
GB: Makes sense. What about the slowdown of internal processes caused by ageing? Can you counter that?
CV: This is where the probiotics come in and work in synergy with our preptide complex. Together, they help prevent accelerated skin ageing by managing inflammation. Our technology has been developed by a leading biotech to generate targeted responses in the skin, balancing stress-damaged skin and stabilising the skin’s defence system. Our products address the inflammation caused by stress and environmental aggressors as well as stimulating collagen production (for skin elasticity), hyaluronic acid (responsible for hydration) and fibronectin (responsible for skin support). This balances the skin’s defence system by maintaining balance (homeostasis) within the adaptive immune system ensuring the skin is optimally responsive.
GB: Wow, serious science! Is there more info on this for subscribers who want to know more?
CV: Yes! We have a section on our website that explains the science behind Aurelia in depth.
GB: Thanks. To get back to basics, can you explain how we can get ‘the glow’?
CV: Radiance is achieved through hydrated and nourished skin, while a smooth texture results from keeping your skin cleansed through gentle exfoliation. Skin plumpness results from healthy collagen production and high levels of hyaluronic acid. The Aurelia range addresses all of these factors while providing a luxurious experience thanks to the beautiful botanical ingredients we ethically source from far and wide. Delicious blends are a key feature of the range including Lavender, Neroli, Rose, Jasmine and Plumeria. These fuse with the science to achieve incredible results.
I have been testing Aurelia Probitic Skincare’s Cell Revitalise Day Moisturiser and swear it absorbs, smells and revitalises like a dream. Her Miracle Cleanser is a cross between a cream and a balm and comes with a natural anti-bacterial bamboo muslin cloth – a strong contender for the cult cleanser crown!
